Cherry Processing

Another time honored tradition at Kimmel is the cherry harvest. Kimmel is one of the biggest cherry orchards in the area, renown for its pleasingly tart Montmorency variety, particularly prized for pie baking. The picking begins in late June, and visitors to the Orchard can watch pitters and sorters in action at the Apple Barn during the two-week harvest. The cherries go fast, so if you want a taste of this time-honored harvest, visit early, and often!
