Learning Objective 2.8
Value added products are the mainstay of many bee businesses. By adding additional ingredients, or by simply refining products found in the hive and marketing them, you can vastly increase the number of products that your beehives produce. Getting into farmer’s markets and fairs may seem daunting at first, but with a good mentor and knowing how to reach out, you can put your product out at many different markets. There will also be a demo to show how to make some value added products.
After this lecture, you will have a better understanding of:
- Commercial marketing vs farmers marketing/direct sales
- Cottage Food Laws
- How to get into a farmers market or craft fair
- What types of products you can market from your bees
Cost: $10 for Great Plains Master Beekeeping members. $25 for nonmembers
